Thankfulness

This is the 3rd post this morning. I think God is teaching me Thankfulness.

Today is a gift from him. I had to wait an hour. So what. Big deal. There is so much to be thankful for. I did not respond very well to not getting instant gratification and I don't like that. There is still a lot of character in me God still needs to refine.

A big thing on my mind lately is slowing down our pace of life and enjoying relationships. Some of God's most precious children are laid aside in sick beds or locked in prisons. And I complain when I have to wait for an hour to have my healthy child checked out. I am ashamed of my bad attitude and thankful that God will take me back and forgive me.

He showed me that I can rejoice in my insufficiency, knowing that His Power is made perfect in weakness. Now I'm going to go and enjoy the rest of my day and be thankful for the gift.

Goo-Gone

Everyone needs a bottle of Goo-Gone. It removes stickers (like if you take a sticker off a plate or glass or something and it leaves that residue behind).

It removes gum, crayon, scuff marks, make-up, glue and candle-wax. Oh, and asphalt. I don't know how long I've been looking to find a tried and true product that will remove the asphalt stains from my clothing, but alas, I have found it.

Yesterday we got candle wax on our tablecloth. I sprayed Goo-Gone on the wax, rubbed it right off, and washed it. SO much easier than getting out the wax paper and ironing over it.

Three cheers for Goo-Gone! We keep it way, way high up in the laundry room away from the kiddos. It makes my life lots easier though, LOVE IT!

Irrationally Angry

This is a venting post because I am so angry right now. If you are in a cheerful, happy mood just X out so that my mood doesn't rub off on you.

I took Jibs to his well child check-up this morning which I scheduled so that he would wake right up, we would go, come home and he could take his morning nap. The first thing they have you do is take off all their clothes (diaper on) and weigh them. That part was fine. The part that was not fine is the part where they said the "doctor would be right in." After over 45 minutes the doctor finally came in.

We were the first people there. We waited nearly AN HOUR. I waited holding a naked, cold, 21 pound little bundle of energy who I had to try to keep warm and content. Why am I so irked right now. I mean I am just so dang mad. And the lady we saw is the sweetest lady I just adore her, but still. I had to say, "Anna, be nice, be nice, be nice. You love the Lord and you're the wife of a minster for Pete's sake. Be nice." I tried real hard, but I was just furious at that point. It is safe to say I was at most pleasant but not my normal, cheerful self.

You can imagine how immunizations went for the sweet little boy.

Now I am going to sign off, and try to post a nice, helpful post and then I am going to ask Jesus to soften my angry heart. GRrrrrrrr.

The Biggest Looser

This little guy woke up this morning, went straight to his closet, pulled out work-out clothes, rummaged through the DVD's till he found The Biggest Looser work-out DVD, got the weights out, asked me if I'd like to work out with him, and proceeded to work-out. Hill. Arry. Us.

I explained to him that Mommy & Daddy stayed up until 2am watching a movie that we did not start until 11:45pm because we were trying to act like we are still in college and can in fact stay up till all hours of the night with no effect on the next day.

As it turns out, it is almost noon, I'm still in my night gown, and am going to seriously have to get this show rolling because I have 4 mouths to feed and we have to leave for school at around 1:oo. So, that's our day so far in a nutshell, and here is a video for your viewing enjoyment.

As Seen on T.V.

I can't sleep.

I can't eat.

I'm feeding the family Ramen Noodles at each meal to save up moolah.

I want a Steam Mop so badly I'll do anything.

Hee Hee Haaa!

Have you seen it? If you have seen it you know exactly what I am talking about.

The steam mop that will change your life. It's called a Shark but I also have a friend who ordered one off the Home Shopping Network. I knew I loved a good, clean floor. It us up on the list of the top 5 things that bring me joy:

  • The Joy Of The Lord
  • Family/Friends
  • Good Food
  • Cleanliness
  • The Steam Mop

What I also did not realize is how nutty my obsession to get the cleanest floor is. I have 4 different types of mops. That just ain't right.

p.s. i'm just kidding about feedin' the kids $ .16 noodle packs for dinner.

3:54am

Yes, it is true.

I am up and have been up since 1am.

Went to bed at 10:30pm with a completed Bible Study lesson thankyouverymuch. Entire book of Deuteronomy this week.

My house has E=X=P=L=O=D=E=D. And I've had several people stop by and visit in the midst of my mess. If you come over, I'll scoot a pile of the mess over and offer you a glass of Peach Tea and offer that if you take your glasses off it may be more bearable for you-that's what I've been doing.

So, why am I up at an insane hour of the morning? I had to google Tonsillectomy recovery. I've been laying in bed wandering how a mid-30 year old woman recovers from the procedure. Why would I care about that?

Oh yes, because I have aches, chills, and a killer sore throat. Again. Again as in the 3rd time in 8 weeks. Again as in I just got of antibiotics Friday. Again as in my house is in shambles because I cannot get on top of things since we all got Strep throat.

Sigh.

I think it's fair to say I am anxious, tired, and feeling very bad right now.

Washington

Sorry I haven't posted much lately. We had a strep throat outbreak at our house which left us MIA for a week. Then I've been in Washington with Bella, Edward & Jacob. I should be back early this week.

Easter

We had a wonderful Easter service at church. It was a dark, stormy cold day but the celebration was great. Naps were great too.

My good friend Becke' (who sings on the Praise Team) had me continually asking forgiveness for coveting her new blue, super duper cute blue dress and jacket. Fashion can be so distracting.

Oust

is all I have to say. Spraying it all over the house.

I've been in bed since Wednesday. Strep Throat. What? Oh yes, I did just have it 7 weeks ago. Turrible.

Now my sweet red head probably has it. We'll see tomorrow when we're knocking on the doctor's office door bright and early.

This would officially be one. full. week. that we've been dealing with fever.

So if anyone wandered where I've been, that's where. Nana helped with the boys today and treated us to BBQ which was SO SWEET. Sweet Shane has been a trooper as usual. When I get a high fever I am out of commission. He manned the laundry, meals, diaper changes, grocery shopping, bought me a fabulous pink bouquet of hydrangeas, bought Easter basket & Easter egg decorating fixins (all from his own idea), and took all the boys to the Walk Through The Cross at church last night...

which is where one of my sons farted really loudly, during the quiet, reverent service.

Sweet Peas

So, do you ever open up a can of Sweet Peas, nuke them, and serve them with dinner just to make yourself feel better even though you know noone will touch them?

Yeah, me too.

127th time to post about this...

But I just can't help myself.

I cleaned my house today and the smell of Pledge, Windex, Scrubbing Bubbles & Armstrong Floor Cleaner makes me blog about it.

The windows are open.

The laundry is done.

You hate me right about now.

We're probably having ice cream for dinner to celebrate the purty day.

And I'm ending the day with Downy fresh sheets on my bed.

Constipation

If your child is suffering from constipation I promise you I have a no fail cure.

Load up the bus and go out to eat.

The nicer the restaurant the quicker the cure.

This remedy is tried and true, you can trust me.

That smells so good. Where'd ya get it?

"The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume." John 12:3

How does your house smell? How does it sound?

The best way I know to get your house smelling right is to stop. Sit down. In some quietness. Get a Bible. Get a pen. Get some paper.

As women we have many things that vie for our attention at any given moment. I am amazed at how my husband can just come home and sit. Or after dinner just go to the couch and sit. Or get in the floor and play with the boys. Or watch a T.V. show without getting up to do things during commercial. That natural calmness and ability to stop & sit is not in my natural DNA.

Mary was able to do this. She was not distracted. She sat & she listened. She chose to stop and sit.

The result? God spoke to her. Intimate things. Secret things. Because she stopped to listen she knew it would be appropriate to anoint the feet of Jesus with perfume, preparing him for his burial. People thought she was crazy when she blessed him with the exquisite sacrifice. But she knew.

And her house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

He sends His Word and melts them; he stirs up his breezes, and the waters flow. He makes peace within your borders. Sing to the LORD. Really, sing. In your home. Teach songs to your kids. Put on a praise CD. Open up The Word and let the waters flow.

And her house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
