Modem

Yeah, I'm not sure what that means other than our modem is broken which means my 'puter won't turn on.

I'm at my husband's office right now.

I really think they like me loading up the bus and coming to use their facilities in the mid-workday so I'm sure posts will be uninterrupted.

I've been in Dallas last week at a training. It is always nice to go to a quiet hotel room with a nice white down comforter, get in my pj's and read the Word before nodding off to sleep.

When did Little Caesar's go back to $5?

We are having gourmet left-over's tonight-pizza reheated in the OVEN versus NUKING it. I love my family and they will know it.

We are in the middle of a big youth room renovation. It is looking really purty. All black and swanky and everything.

All of our clothes are thrown nicely into my laundry room with the door closed. It is tempting to go to Targe' to buy more under garmets instead of braving the pile. Is that wrong? Yea, I didn't think so either.

I am letting my nails "breathe" whatever that means. Does that really work? It better because I'm walking around without pink nails for the sake of my health.

Last but now least I am ready to decorate for Christmas.

High Maintenance

I've turned back to the dark side.

In college I was Texas hair to the hilt. Velcro rollers, flat irons, curling irons, hair spray, combs to tease it up, the whole nine yards. Then the last 7 years I've been having kiddos. I traded in all the hype for a more natural look. Translated means very fast to get ready. Total start time, shower to shoes can be under 30 minutes.

Fast Forward to the last few weeks where we spent time at my parents house. My sister lives around the corner. One night I called and asked if she'd fix my hair. She was all about that because she's a diva and everything so the next morning we went over and she went to town.

Oh. My. Word. Girl spent an hour on my hair. She pulled out all the stops. Velcro rollers. Tons of product. Big brushes. Combs. Flat Irons. Curling Irons. Big Sexy Hair Spray & Play. My hair hasn't looked that good since....ever.

And then something else happened. Saturday night me and my mom were watching QVC and Laura Gellar was on. We don't have cable so I don't catch the beauty nights which is a really good thing because my husband would kill me if I got everything I needed. Laura was giving all kinds of make-up tips (like wear black liner on the top, brown liner on the bottom to open up your eyes).

Then she came to the crown jewel. The Lipstick tropics collection and my heart started beating so fast. It was a top selling color in her salon that was discontinued. People continued to ask about it and she has been able to bring it back. It's a pink shade that is supposed to look good with everything. The gloss has gold and silver glitter in it. Shut up, I know. My mom ordered it for us and I was flipping out. Be looking for a review next week.

So that's all I've got for today. It's taking me longer to get ready these days and it's a lot of fun.

And this my friends is why God blessed me with three boys because this tendency towards loving hair and make-up runs in my Mamaw's blood, all four of her daughters, in me and my sister all the way down to my nieces.

Kindhearted

My 4 year old just asked me if we should sell my 6 year old for a price.

How much were you thinking?

$1.00

Wow. In our family if you push your brother's chair, you might get someone wanting to sell you in the Dollar Spot at Targe' for Uno Dollar.
********************************************************************************
"A kindhearted woman gains respect." Prov 11:16a

These 5 simple words are easy to read.

They go down smooth like honey.

And they've been on my mind this week.

My mission today: Speak kind words.

Don't you want this for your life? Responding with kindness as a first response. In your spirit and thoughts unspoken as well as spoken words.

The long summer days are nice. They are different than the rest of the year bringing newness. Being confined in close quarters for long periods of time brings new challenges. Restlessness starts to take hold. Here is a simple verse me and my boys are learning together:

"Do everything without complaining or arguing." Philippians 2:13

My spirit is in need of some refreshment.

I've been inventorying the fruit in my life. We've fallen into a pretty normal summer schedule along with new habits and responses. Here is the fruit I want flowing from my life.

Love.

Joy.

Peace.

Patience.

Kindness.

Goodness.

Faithfulness.

Gentleness.

Self Control.

That's better than a day at the Spa.

Costs just as much if not more but it feels good and fits just right.

Bookworm

This week I have been a bookworm. I started a Terri Blackstock series. There are 4 books: Last Light, True Light, Night Light & Dawn's Light.

We have been playing outside a lot. Our 4th of July was so great. We were at my parents and the neighborhood did an awesome display-at least an hour of great fireworks. After the festivities we fell into bed-no baths or anything. My boys were so muddy from a day of playing outside in water and dirt but we were pooped.

I'm into the Duggars show right now-18 and Counting on TLC. It is so interesting. Have you seen it?

150

Did you know if my family ate 5 a day that would translate into 150 a week?

Fruits and Vegetable servings a day for the non health nuts who are wandering what the heck I'm talking about.

25 a day.

150 a week.

Did you know that 150 is also the number of relationships you can kind of maintain and interact with.
