Lazy Summer Days

Last night my big boys sweet talked me into letting them snuggle me (aka sleep with me).

This morning we slept until 9:45am. I just knew the boys had messed with the clock and it was really 7:30am, but nope, it really was late! This is one of those slow going mornings. It's dark and rainy outside.

My little morning routine consists of:
  • make the bed
  • get dressed
  • unload the dishwasher
  • breakfast
  • change over the laundry

Today we are having friends over for lunch in oh, about 20 minutes. Little Miss Sunshine is checking email in her pj's and having some cream with a touch of coffee. We love rainy days though. Good days for being lazy!

As good as that is, I'd better go paint the barn and get presentable.

Potluck

Is there a prescription for writer's block? We have stuff going on, it just doesn't feel blog worthy. Take yesterday for example, R finished using the bathroom and said, "Look mom, it's a family poop!" You don't really want to blog about that though because it's gross. Funny but gross.

I can only post so many times about our ginormous pillows, I mean they are really huge.

We're using a cash only system. Supposed to be anyway. There's been a few credit card transactions this week, but for the most part it's been good.

I have to tell you about the cute Jones New York dress my mom gave me because she wasn't wearing it. I love it so much. So much that Shane asked me two days ago if I would please stop wearing it. What's the deal, you don't like seeing me in the black and white dress everyday since you got back home? I'm washing it. Geesh.

My honey bought me a desk, printer cabinet and chair. It is so pretty and nice. The color is Cinnamon Cherry-it almost looks black and matches our bedroom suite perfectly. I have gotten so much work done this week.

Last week my friend Becke' invited me to go walking. Sure I said, I'll meet you at 7pm. After a little thought I called back and asked her to please not fire me from being a walking buddy with her, but asked what she thought about us walking up to Marble Slab to get ice cream and then walk home. Ahh, you like the idea too do ya? We had a great time walking, having ice cream and visiting.

Celebration Day

Today is a very special fun day at our house. It's a celebration day! I am not working. It is going to be a day where the kids and I hang out and enjoy each other.

These boys of ours are the sweetest little gifts. They are full of life and make us smile many times throughout the day. Our oldest son is full of compassion for others. He is thoughtful and perceptive of other peoples needs. Our second born is the world's greatest snuggler. He sucks his "fumb" and sleeps with a "banky". And his sense of humor has us rolling all the time. And the baby. Aww the baby. God bless the baby. He loves to hit, has found his voice and thinks it's perfectly acceptable to scream. He is the best birth control known to man, but we love him fiercely. He is an adorable little ball of energy.

Yes, today is Celebration Day! We are going to enjoy life and we are going to enjoy each other.

Pillows

We are the proud owner's of 5 new pillows. I don't know what to think about these gargantu pillows. On the one hand I love them because they are new and comfy. On the other hand when you lay your head on them it feels like you have about 7 pillows underneath your head.

So, the kids have been banging on them with spatula's and wooden spoons. You'd be surprised at the results we've seen in just 2 days time...they are breaking in very nicely. And, I found a bottle of Egyptian Cotton linen spray-it smells sooooooo good!
We also had to purchase a new shower caddy because last week I had one too many near death experiences with the thing falling down. We are still trying to catch up from all our traveling. Everyone is tired. I'm thankful we're all home though. Now it's time to plan and gear up for back to school.

I made it!

Well, it's official. My honey was gone on 4 weeks worth of missions trips (2 trips total) and me and the clan made it!

We went 20 days without seeing each other this last trip. He flew in from his trip Wednesday night and I left for my trip Wednesday morning.

Today has been spent blessing the house (good ol' cleaning for you non-flylady-er's out there in blogland). Tonight we are going to buy new pillows. I have not been sleeping good for awhile. On my trip I slept great. This morning when I woke up I said no mas! It is time for a new pillow so I'll sleep better and won't wake up with a sore back. So, tonight we're going on a mission to find 5 new pillows.

Not a super exciting update, but I have lots of fun stories to share over the next few days! Can't wait to read your blogs and catch up!

Praying for Kate McRae

If you haven't heard about Kate McRae, Click Here, to read a little of her story. She is a precious 5 year old girl who desperately needs prayer right now. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor last week. She is just a doll.

Post Office Luncheon

What do you do when you have three small children, it's lunchtime, and you have 160 invitations to stamp and get in the mail?

That's Right! You load the bus and feed them lunch at the Post Office while you stamp those bad boys! The invitations not the kids. Our first ever Post Office Luncheon went over without a hitch.

We got to visit with a friend who just had a baby, and saw two ladies from church. The social aspect of the Post Office Luncheon was more fun than I had anticipated.

When I pulled up at the Post Office I was sitting in the bus getting all my Luncheon materials together, and a sweet little girl even opened the passenger door and hopped in, only to quickly hop right back out because her Mama's Red Bus was in her spot two cars down.

We shared a wave of camaraderie once she was safely in her Red Bus with her driver and it was the sweetest thing.

Athletic Shorts

Before we left for vacation I bought a pair of athletic shorts from Targe'. All my clothes are either pretty dressy or ghetto comfy-as in a pair of cut off sweats made into shorts. I wanted a nice pair of comfy shorts to wear with a tshirt and flip flops.

Champions had a great pair I chose. Here is the problem. I LOVE THEM. TOO MUCH. And the waist is elastic Sooooooo, those 3-5 or so pounds I've put on over the last couple weeks has kind of been camouflaged.

You can imagine my surprise when I put on my linen pants this morning in preparation for a Chuck E. Cheese birthday party. It. Was. Not. Pretty. God Bless that poor button on my pants. I sucked it up though(literally). The temptation to wear my new favorite uniform was there, but I resisted.

So, this post is about a couple of things. First, a warning for investing in a great pair of athletic shorts you won't be running in. BE CAREFUL. They are very comfortable and don't care if you get seconds when you make Rachel Ray's Steakhouse Shepherd's Pie. And next, I'm breaking out the water jug to start drinking more. Water that is. Geesh.

The Crazy Strawberry

Is this not the craziest strawberry you ever saw? Seen? Brain freeze on correct grammar at the moment. It almost felt wrong cutting the Siamese berry up for the strawberry shortcakes. Not that wrong, just a little.

When I snapped the last photo my camera asked, "Did someone blink?" Um. No. Crazy strawberry did not blink but thank you for asking and have a nice day.

We're gearing up for the 4th. The 4th of July is my FAVORITE holiday of the year! I love it! Summertime. Heat. Redneck fireworks. When my parents moved kind of out of town we stopped going to the river for the huge fireworks display. They do a big neighborhood style thingamajig.

My dad must've bought 1 Million bottle rockets our first year. He kept shooting those puppies off one. by one. by one. It was really funny. Schwing. There goes the new guys fireworks.

Over here at our house we are changing the way we spell neighbor to Naber. Much easier. You're welcome for the simple tip for the day.
